AMD Threadripper 2990WX Breaks Cinebench R15 World Record, Beats Intel Core i9-7980XE

The AMD Threadripper 2990WX comes with 32 cores and 64 threads and was able to set a new Cinebench R15 world record and beat the Intel Core i9-7980XE.

AMD Threadripper 2990WX is the top of the line next generation CPU that AMD has to offers. The AMD Threadripper 2990WX comes with 32 cores and 64 threads and was able to set a new Cinebench R15 world record and beat the Intel Core i9-7980XE in the process. At a recent event, the AMD Threadripper 2990WX was overclocked to 5.1 GHz using liquid nitrogen cooling.

A 5.1 GHz overclock is pretty impressive keeping in mind the high core count and the amount of heat that the process would produce at such a high frequency. The AMD Threadripper 2990WX was able to score 7,618 and was able to beat the Intel Core i9-7980XE that scored 5,828 points.

Jim Anderson, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group, AMD, announced that the upcoming CPUs would be available starting the 13th of August. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

We created a new standard for the HEDT market when we first launched our first Ryzen Threadripper processor last year, providing computing power that was never before for the most demanding PC users in the world. We aim that second-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors can drive performance limits even further and continue to be at the forefront of innovation. As of August 13, creators, enthusiasts, and gamers everywhere will be able to feel the benefits of these products.

The AMD Threadripper 2990WX is a very impressive product and while the CPU has amazing specs, AMD has really outdone itself when it comes to presentation. Intel needs to learn something about presentation from team Red as the stock coolers that team Blue have been using for years now have become pretty old and they are not very appealing either.

AMD provides pretty decent coolers in the consumer lineup. These coolers come with braided cables and some even come with RGB lighting. I am sure all the people that bought these CPUs appreciate these small details.
