Snake In Super Smash Bros Will Still Be Voiced By David Hayter

David Hayter will be voicing Solid Snake in Super Smash Bros once again, after being removed from the role for Metal Gear Solid 5.

Pretty much everyone knows that David Hayter is the true voice of Solid Snake, as he has voiced nearly every version of the character except Punished “Venom” Snake in Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, who was voiced by Kiefer Sutherland. He’ll also now be voicing Snake in Super Smash Bros.

Solid Snake originally made his Smash Bros debut in Super Smash Bros Brawl, when he came in alongside Sonic the Hedgehog as Sega and Konami got guest characters. With the announcement of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which will include every character from every past Smash game (alongside two newcomers in the form of Princess Daisy and Ridley), that means Snake is also making a return.

While Nintendo hasn’t said if David Hayter is voicing new lines for Snake in Super Smash Bros, or they’re just going to be using the same lines that were originally recorded in Brawl, but we’ll have to wait and see how things turn out when the game actually releases on December 7 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

David Hayter’s trademark voice for Solid Snake has given the Metal Gear Solid series many of its memes, whether it’s shouts of “Metal Gear?!”, questions about a Hind-D helicopter, and more things like that. While Snake won’t get much of a chance for dialogue in Super Smash Bros (aside from using your Codec during fights), the possibility of getting even more ludicrous dialogue (especially given all of the new characters that Snake will be fighting) is a big possibility, and would likely get a lot of laughs.

We know when and what Super Smash Bros Ultimate will be releasing on, so hopefully it’ll be a great sequel that will manage to please everyone. And hopefully we’ll get to hear a lot of Snake in Super Smash Bros on release.
