The annual Assassin’s Creed took a break after February 2016 as the series took one year off between Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Origins.
It actually resulted in betterment for Ubisoft as Assassin’s Creed Origins was a huge success and lifted the franchise to the position where it stands right now.
People have been thinking whether Ubisoft is going back to annual releases after the confirmed release of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which is less than a year after Assassin’s Creed Origins arrival in 2017.
Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot confirmed during an interview with Geoff Keighley at Youtube Live by saying that this is not the case as Ubisoft has not changed its plans regarding the cycle of Assassin’s Creed series.
Yves Guillemot said:
First, the Assassin’s Creed brand is coming back this year because Ubisoft Quebec had been working on some time (three years) and they were ready to come, so they are coming.
We are just now considering the brand. It’s a different approach than the one we had before, so you’ll see it some years but it will not be every year.
He made it clear that the series is coming back in less than a year due to Ubisoft Quebec working on a game for three years and it won’t affect the cycle in general.
So it looks like after Odyssey we are most likely to see next AC game in 2020. Watch Dogs 3 is also rumored which will be a perfect replacement for Ubisoft for the next year.
That’s for the future, for now, everyone has their eyes set on Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which was shown in a beautiful trailer by Ubisoft at E3. Wanted levels, Strongholds, horse riding, and better character animations are the newly added features in the upcoming AC game.
