No Plans Of Overwatch 2 Yet, Team Is Bigger Than Launch

All this success comes from the determination and passion put forth by the team and for that reason, Blizzard does not plan to put pressure on the team. So at the moment, there are no plans for Overwatch 2.

Among the most successful games lately, Overwatch probably ranks up high. Having crossed over 40 million players, it has definitely carved its way into the most successful multiplayer shooter in recent years. What has made this game great, is Blizzard’s continuous and consistent commitment. All this success comes from the determination and passion put forth by the team and for that reason, Blizzard does not plan to put extra pressure on the team. So at the moment, there are no plans for Overwatch 2.

Recently Overwatch celebrated its second anniversary and this week Blizzard launched an Anniversary event to celebrate. A great many things are up for grabs, which include 50 new cosmetic items in Loot Boxes alongside, a new Deathmatch map, Petra, returning brawl events and much more.

To celebrate further, Blizzard recently hosted a roundtable interview with the Assistant game director Aaron Keller and Senior Game Producer Matthew Hawley, who took time to talk about various achievements and the team.

Matthew Hawley talking about the Blizzard Team highlighted that the development team has grown significantly compared to when they first shipped the game. Furthermore, he added that the company at the moment only plans to focus on supporting Overwatch.

He said,”Running a live service game takes a lot of work and I hope the community knows we have been committed to continually improving the game and creating content. What people might not realize is the team now is significantly bigger than what it was when we shipped the game, and we have put all of that into working on the live game and the new maps, heroes, and events like Anniversary. At least for the time being, [supporting Overwatch] is our focus right now, and we’re excited to work on this game.”

So what we can gather from all this is that, if anyone had any ounce of hope for Overwatch 2, then we would recommend you to crush that hope for now, since Blizzard apparently has no plans for Overwatch 2.
