Nintendo Is Very Happy With Its Mobile Business, Says Tatsumi Kimishima

Nintendo had an amazing year thanks to its portable console, Nintendo Switch, which recently reached 17.99 million sales and the resurgence of 3DS. It’s a surprise as the company is a stranger and new to mobile games but they are definitely satisfied with its mobile business.

Following the reveal of its financial results, The company published a transcript with Q/A session with Tatsumi Kimishima and Shuntaro Furukawa. In which they talked about the mobile business of the company.

The company surprised everyone by announcing a new mobile title called Dragalia Lost which is being developed by a famous Japanese company known as Cygames.

Nintendo is also taking 5% of Cygame’s stock to develop the game as its own mobile app and is working together with the company to bring the game to mobile devices.

While speaking about the mobile business, Company President Tatsumi Kimishima and his successor Shuntaro Furukawa talked in detail that they are very happy with its mobile business and projects they have created with DeNa. They will continue to partner with DeNa in the future which is also responsible for Nintendo’s account system.

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed that they intend to bring existing IP and characters to mobile devices and more users, then change them to their own hardware.

He continued by telling that they would like the mobile games to become a major pillar of revenue for the company in which they haven’t succeed so far by bringing games like Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, and Pokemon Go. Though Pokemon Go was a huge success but the company had a minimal stake in it.

Dragalia lost will be the first Orignal IP that Nintendo will have on mobile devices and it will be quite interesting to see how Nintendo takes this mobile business further with their unique approach.
