The untitled sequel, presently dubbed Avengers 4, actually has a working title to boast. However, the title is intentionally being hidden away from the public because it contains major spoilers for what happens in Avengers: Infinity War. In fact, the same title also gives away an idea about the events to take place in the sequel as well.

While attending a promotional fan-event in China (via MCU Cosmic) this week, directors Anthony and Joe Russo brought up concerns surrounding the issue. Everyone wants to know what Avengers 4 will be called but releasing the title now will destroy the screening experience for Avengers: Infinity War. In cryptic fashion, the Russo brothers also added that it would be really “interesting or funny” to learn the title when the time comes.

There have been a few speculations that the title of Avengers 4 will be revealed right after Avengers: Infinity War releases in theaters next week. However, considering how everyone involved has been trying their best to curb potential spoilers from surfacing on the internet, the looming title might take more time before arriving for the public.

Finally, the connection between both movies should make it apparent that they are singular in terms of storytelling. There is a minor segment in the fan-base that believes the two to be separate without having anything to do with the other. If that was the case, the matter of spoilers would not have been a concern.

Avengers: Infinity War will open in theaters on April 27, 2018. The untitled sequel, presently dubbed Avengers 4, is slated to premiere on May 3, 2019.

For those interested in knowing about the timelines, Avengers: Infinity War will take place at the same time as the events in Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Black Panther (2018).
