Payday 2 Has A Hard Time Running At 30 FPS On Nintendo Switch Despite Compromises
Payday 2 is the recent third-party game to be ported to Nintendo Switch and many of you might be wondering how the game performs on Nintendo Switch hardware. Well, according to a report, Payday 2 barely maintains 30 FPS while running on Switch despite making a lot of compromises on graphical features.
Digital Foundry took some time to analyze the performance of Payday 2 on Nintendo Switch and results aren’t satisfactory at all. The game makes a lot of compromises on the graphical features like disabling bloom, low anisotropic filtering and more.
Not only that the game runs that 1600×900 resolution in docked mode and even then the game doesn’t hold the 30 FPS on Nintendo Switch.
According to the firm, other third-party titles such as Doom and Skyrim use the dynamic resolution to keep running at a steady 30 FPS but, Payday 2 doesn’t use it at all which could be one of the reason for it not maintaining 30 FPS mark and dropping to 20 FPS.
The reason why the game’s FPS is a big deal for Nintendo Switch is that the game’s pace depends on the frame rate if the frame rate drops so does the pace.
For now, we would suggest you hold off your Payday 2 purchase for Nintendo Switch and we hope that developers will roll out a patch soon to fix this issue as a game with low-quality assets can be played but a game with such low FPS is very difficult to play.
Speaking of third-party titles on Switch, a rumor has been making rounds on the internet suggesting that Diablo 3 will be coming to Switch in 2019. The report further suggests that the developers want to introduce local play with multiple Nintendo Switches.
Payday 2 is a co-op first-person shooter available for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Switch.
