Playstation Plus Free Games For February Might Be Dark Souls 2, Far Cry 4

A rumor has been going around that the new Playstation Plus free games for February are going to be Dark Souls 2 and Far Cry 4, close to remastered and new entries in their series releasing, no less.

The Playstation Plus Free Games for February are apparently actually going to be good this time around, as according to a rumor that’s going around Playstation Plus members can get either Dark Souls 2 or Far Cry 4 as their free games of choice. However, there’s no news on what other games there are.

Considering that Playstation Plus games are often criticized for their low quality, getting two fairly well-reviewed games this month are a bit of an oddity, even considering that January’s free games include Batman: The Telltale Series and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, both of which are fairly well-reviewed games in their own right.

If the Playstation Plus Free Games for February are indeed going to be Dark Souls 2 and Far Cry 4, this might mean that Playstation is finally starting to get it right with their free games. Previously they’d been putting up games that were either indie or mediocre in general for their free games, which caused a lot of Playstation Plus subscribers to criticize the company.

This was especially true given the free games that would often be on Microsoft’s own Games With Gold program, which allowed players that had Xbox Live Gold to get free games that were often of a much higher quality than Playstation games that had the same offer.

Considering that Far Cry 5 and a remastered version of the original Dark Souls have also both been announced and will be coming out this year (Dark Souls in May while Far Cry 5 will release in March), the both of the games being chosen as the Playstation Plus free games for February couldn’t be better, and indeed it’s likely because of their impending releases.

Either way, if this rumor turns out to be true, you can download both Dark Souls 2 and Far Cry 4 sometime over the course of February, and there’ll likely be multiple other games available as well.
