There are many things Uncharted gets right and one of them is its excellent gunplay. It’s smooth, responsive and not easy to pull off for a developer. And while we do have high hopes for A Way Out, the director, Josef Fares, doesn’t think its gunplay is going to be as good as Naughty Dog’s magnum opus
In a recent interview with the PlayStation Magazine, he mentioned that they are a small team that is trying to put together the best and unique product possible. For this, they are trying different things.
We’re a small team but we’re putting so much different stuff [in] here, with every chapter having something different going on. I’d rather have variation in everything. Like the shooting. Of course, we won’t have as polished shooting as Uncharted, obviously, but I’d rather have a diverse experience as that’s important for this game. Repetition is something that bothers me in games sometimes, you know.
If you don’t remember, Fares is the same guy who sort of had a meltdown at the Video Game Awards this year.
He dropped the F-Bomb live on camera while talking about, well, a lot of things. He seemed very angry about the then-recent Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes, and the Oscars, for some reason. He ripped into developers that use aggressive monetization but made it clear that EA has been very nice to him. He revealed that he has 100% of the revenue from his game and all publisher “f**k up” sometimes.
It turned out to be a hilarious segment that the audience really enjoyed. His honesty and enthusiasm entertained the crowd. His honesty isn’t newfound; not too long ago he bashed PS4’s dated hardware.
A Way Out is actually a very interesting game that you must play with your friend online, helping each other escape from the prison. The best part is that you only need one copy of the game for two players to play online.
A Way Out release date is March 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is available to download for $29.99 on Origin, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Live Marketplace.
