The Xbox One X might be the world's most powerful console but it is not performing too well in Japan. Here is what you need to know,

The Xbox One X is the most powerful console on the market right now but that might not mean anything in markets where Sony is dominant. Japan happens to be one of those markets. In the opening week, November 6-12 the Xbox One X only sold 1,639 units in Japan. Japan is home to a huge handheld market and that is why Nintendo products do better here as compared to consoles.

According to August sales numbers, Nintendo Switch sold 84,593 units. In second place we have the PS4 with 23,613 units sold and 2DS XL with 10,935 units. The PS4 Pro sold 6,028 units. This is not surprising keeping in mind how people in Japan favor handhelds as compared to consoles.

The Xbox One X has been praised a lot and the producer of Wolfenstein 2 said that it will set new standards in the gaming industry. According to him:

Yeah – I hope so at least. If you have the possibility to develop and deliver games that run in 4K resolution and look that fantastic, of course, you want to take that opportunity. It will set a new standard for games moving forward.

The following is the week (November 6-12) game hardware sales:

1. Nintendo Switch – 84,593 units
