PS5 and Next Xbox Are At least Two Years Away, According to Ubisoft

According to Assassin's Creed developer Ubisoft, Sony and Microsoft will release PS5 and the next Xbox in at least two years.

PS5 and the next Xbox are going to take another two years to release, claims Ubisoft. Even they have no solid information as to when these machines will release but the assumption that was made seems solid enough.

During a recent financial meeting, CEO Yves Guillemot stated that due to the release of PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X we still have another couple of years to go. Mid-gen upgrades have increased the console cycles this generation. We can expect PS5 and next Xbox sometime around 2020.

Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro last year and Microsoft Xbox One X this year, we think we still have a minimum of two years in front of us before something new is coming. But that’s our perception, we don’t have any confidential information on that front.

The CEO further added that Sony and Microsoft’s new machine will aid the industry.

We really like the fact that Sony and Microsoft are really putting more power in their machines, using the evolution of technology to give power to our developers to create better games for our players,” he said. “That is going in the right direction rather than trying to do accessories or other things. That is going to help the industry a lot because the games will be really beautiful on those machines

The only concern here is that the base models will always hold back mid-gen upgrades in terms of what can be achieved. Xbox One X is now available and there are a plethora of games available to play. Previously released games are getting patches while new titles are in development as we speak.

When do you think is the right time for next-gen machines?
