PS4 Firmware Update 4.74 Now Live, Brings Performance Improvements

Sony Interactive Entertainment has rolled out PS4 Firmware update 4.74 which brings performance improvements to the system.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has been supporting the PlayStation 4 with new firmware updates that bring new features and performance stability to the console. Now Sony has rolled out PS4 Firmware update 4.74 which brings performance improvements.

PS4 Firmware update 4.74 is around 324 MB in size and has the same generic patch note which has accompanied some of the previous firmware updates. “This system software update improves system performance”.

This firmware update comes after Firmware Update 4.72 that introduced a bug showing online players offline to everyone and also prevented PSN connectivity.

Sony is currently beta testing the upcoming major PS4 firmware update that might bring the ability to change PSN IDs. According to some reports, PS4 firmware update 5.0 might include some of the most requested features by the community.

In related news, Sony has been releasing exclusive titles for PSVR including the critically acclaimed Farpoint and the company plans to bring more titles like The Inpatient and they don’t plan to stop there as Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that more new experiences will come to PSVR.

According to Asad Qizilbash, Sony has no intention of leaving the VR market behind and they will work to bring new experiences to PSVR. According to Qizilbash, the company is “Super Focused” on PSVR and intends to double its efforts to bring “some really good games” to the virtual reality headset.

Also, Sony’s competitor Microsoft is also jumping into the VR market with Windows Mixed Reality. Recently, Microsoft announced that Windows Mixed Reality bundle will be available for $399. However, the system required for smoother experience starts at $499 which makes the buy-in into the Mixed Reality around $900.

Windows Mixed Reality offers both VR and AR experiences and is powered by Windows 10 and the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). The system is quite flexible as it can scale to a variety of hardware.
