Producing and marketing AAA game is not cheap and for Warner Bros, the upcoming Shadow Of War is the biggest marketing investment they ever made. According to SVP of international Olivier Wolff, Shadow Of The War is the biggest marketing campaign for Warner Bros.
Wolff told MCVUK, that Warner Bros expects Shadow Of War to sell very well as the expectations are “massive”. He added that the company never had a big investment in any game as Shadow Of War. He further noted that the company believes Shadow Of War is the right product to attract a wider audience.
“[Our sales expectations] are massive. Top Five or Top Ten massive. We’ve never had such an investment in one game and in a marketing campaign, and we believe that we have the right product in order to seduce a mass audience. We have very high expectations. It’s definitely going to be our game of the year, there is no doubt about that.
We had a great start of the year with two big sellers, Lego Worlds and Injustice 2, and both of them were really big successes. But Shadow is War is going to be even bigger and we believe it’s a true Q4 triple-A flagship title.
In related news, Monolith Productions has revealed that players will not be able to replay failed missions in the upcoming sequel. If the player dies during the castle siege the time will move forward, player’s allies will be captured and the enemies will grow in strength.
