Final Fantasy XV Won’t Take 170 GB HDD Space On PC

Final Fantasy XV is coming to PC in Spring 2018 and with the announcement, Square Enix also revealed PC system requirements for the game which requires PC users to have 170 GB HDD space for the game. While the HDD space requirement is insanely high, game director has revealed that it is a mistake.

Speaking with Kotaku, game director Hajime Tabata confirmed that 170 GB HDD requirement for Final Fantasy XV on PC was a communication mistake. The requirements that were revealed are the ones on which the demo the devs were running on.

That was a mistake, actually. That was a communications mistake– something got put in a memo that really shouldn’t have. What that is [the specifications that went out to press] based on the specs that we’re running the demo on today.

Also, this might indicate that Square Enix is not yet decided on the system requirements for the game and are subject to change in the future. According to Tabata himself, between now and the game’s release on PC, there is a “very good chance” of the change in final specs.

Also, the game director has confirmed that Final Fantasy XV’s PC version will get mod support. He added that while they can’t share anything about it but, more details about Final Fantasy XV mod support will be revealed later this year.

I think one of the biggest things [PC] players can expect is mod support. We definitely want to do it. We haven’t actually managed to get our full modding policy or discussions on that finished but at the moment we do really want to do it. We’ll have the full details around autumn time.

Final Fantasy XV is an open-world action adventure title developed by Square Enix for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and will come to PC in early 2018.
