Yesterday, during Xbox’s Gamescom conference, Ubisoft revealed the cinematic trailer for Assassin’s Creed Origins, bringing us a lot of the usual amazing stuff that has always made the franchise trailers great.
Set to the tune of Leonard Cohen’s You Want It Darker, the Assassin’s Creed Origins trailer shows us some of the diverse landscapes players will encounter throughout the game, the political scenario of the land as well as another look at the protagonist, Bayek.
The Assassin’s Creed Origins trailer also gave us our first look at two of the major historical figures of the time, something which has been the staple of the franchise since the start. Since the game is set in ancient Egypt, players will be encountering the famous Queen Cleopatra and Julius Caesar with his Roman army.
Since Assassin’s have always been against Templars, it would be safe to assume that the person Bayek was shown hunting down in the trailer was a Templar, or at least an early version of those. Similar to Templars, Bayek’s target also seems to specialize in deception and escapes the ambush leaving behind a snake.
Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to launch on 27th October for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game has been in development for quite some time and is made by the same studio which worked on Black Flag. Ubisoft recently talked about how the combat in the game is shaking things up for the franchise to finally pull it out of the stagnant pond it found itself in after yearly releases.
While the last two installments, Syndicate, and Unity, somewhat restricted the players to smaller maps because of their cities, Origins will once again focus on exploratory gameplay and environments similar to Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed 3. On top of that, the game will feature a full day/night cycle which will drastically change how players approach objectives and how the enemies react.
