These Are The Best-Selling Games Of First Half Of 2017 In UK, Who is Number 1?
With the first half of 2017 over, GfK Chart Track has released a list of the best-selling video games of 2017 so far, collecting data from sales in UK since the 1st of January till 1st July. Some of the best-selling video games in the list are expected however, there are also some titles in there, which did well beyond expectation.
As has been the trend with Grand Theft Auto V since it launched back in 2013 and then relaunched on PS4 and Xbox One as a remastered version, the game continues to dominate the video game sales. GfK Chart Track reveals that the first half of 2017 was no different as the Rockstar Games title continues to lead the best-selling games list with over 330k units sold in 6 months, 4 years after release.
The second game on the list is a major surprise as not only is it a Ubisoft title, a company marred by controversy and generally bad practices and game releases in the eyes of the community. It was also one of their two major games this year so far and didn’t happen to feature a PvP game mode which would increase the game’s longevity like Rainbow Six Siege. Ghost Recon Wildlands sits at #2 on the GfK Chart Track list, beating PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn, with over 310k units sold since the game’s launch in March.
By comparison, Horizon Zero Dawn, despite getting rave reviews and a lot better than Wildlands sits at #3 with around 286k units sold. The other two titles in the top 5 list include the yearly giants, FIFA 17 and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare. It is surprising to see Nintendo not making the cut with Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild despite all the hype and success the game had after launch.
Resident Evil 7 also made the list, as was expected thanks to its 3 weeks of stay at the top of the sales charts. The chart data also revealed that the game revenue has increased by 8.4% since last year.
