PS4 Firmware Update 5.0 Could Give Users The Option To Change PSN ID, Remove Games From Library And More
We know that Sony is looking for beta testers to try out the next big PS4 firmware update but so far, there has been no exact indication on what will be in this update 5.0 besides that it’s going to be a major update with tons of features.
However, some reports have surfaced which seem to suggest this PS4 firmware update 5.0 might include some of the most requested features by the community such as Game Library sorting. Sony conducted a survey back in 2015 and since then, they have been delivering the features which were requested in the survey. If that trend holds true, PS4 firmware update 5.0 will once again be giving us some, if not all, of the missing features listed below.
- PS One Classics
- Hide/Remove game demos and trials from library
- Store wishlist (similar to Steam)
- Increase maximum number of players in a PSN party
- Ability to change PSN ID
The PS4 firmware beta test will start in August which is when Sony will be releasing more information regarding what is in the next big update. For those interested in being a part of the tests, all they need to sign up is a PS4 console, internet connection and access to the Master account of their console. If they are selected to be in the beta, a PS4 system software update prompt will appear which they can install to try out the new features and give feedback.
If a person decides to opt out of the beta because of the instability or lack of interest, they can simply opt out of the PS4 beta trial and roll back to the previous and stable PS4 firmware. The update will be arriving simultaneously on both PS4 and PS4 Pro systems.
Sony reminds users that feedback is extremely important when testing the beta firmware as, without it, bugs in the PS4 software version can’t be fixed.
