Call of Duty: WW2 Third Person Mode Will Occasionally Appear In-Game

A Call of Duty: WW2 third person mode will apparently make some appearances in the game, mainly in the Headquarters social space for multiplayer.

According to Sledgehammer games, a Call of Duty: WW2 third person mode will be making a few appearances throughout the game, meaning that rather than the game being entirely in first person we will sometimes be able to see the entirety of our characters. However, it may not be in campaign.

One of Call of Duty: WW2’s main features will be the Headquarters mechanic, a sort of Destiny-like social space where players can meet up with friends and join into groups to go into multiplayer games. Considering that that’s a social space where you can show off and stuff, that’s where most of the third person gameplay will be.

Previous games in the Call of Duty series normally had a few small instances of going into third-person, but those were normally while you were driving vehicles such as tanks, such as in Call of Duty: World at War.

Originally, there were rumors that there was only going to be Call of Duty: WW2 third person mode in the game’s Nazi Zombies mode. However, Michael Condrey, one of Sledgehammer Games’s co-founders and a lead game designer, crushed that rumor on his Twitter page. There may also be other modes in multiplayer that would allow players to run around in third-person.

There’s really no telling where the third person gameplay will be in Call of Duty: WW2, aside from the Headquarters area, but hopefully Sledgehammer has managed to put together a good balance between first and third person gameplay. With all of the normal gameplay modes that are in Call of Duty games mostly being in first-person, who knows what Sledgehammer has planned to put into third?

Either way, we’ll have to see just how Call of Duty: WW2 third person mode works out when the game comes out on November 3 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
