PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is currently in early access and requires a lot of tweaks and balances. However, developers have announced that the game will come to Xbox One X and the studio wants to implement Cross-Platform Play for the game between PC and Xbox One.
Speaking with VG247, executive producer Chang Han Kim revealed that the team intends to introduce Cross-Platform Play between PC and Xbox One for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. According to Kim, the team does not anticipate any technical issue while implementing it but, acknowledged that the game would require balancing.
Cross network play between the PC and the console is definitely something we want to do down the road, and we don’t anticipate we’ll have any technical issues with that.
“But… when you consider the competitive side of the game, I do feel that there’s a balance issue between controllers and keyboard and mouse. That’s what’s making it difficult for us to do right away. If we’re going to allow players to use controllers we need to have the aim assist added in and things like that. We’re not going to be supporting it right away, but it’s something we’d like to look into later.
Also, the studio has revealed that with an upcoming patch loot balances will be introduced to the game. The studio describes it as the “first real pass” at making balances to the loot system. According to the devs, not all items will be tweaked but just the ones that spawn more or less frequently than they should.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a multiplayer survival game currently in early access for PC and will launch for consoles later.
