Starbreeze has already announced that Payday 3 is in development, however, since then nothing has been revealed about the game. The last paid DLC for Payday 2 will release this fall and while the studio has not revealed its plans for the future of Payday franchise but did say that Payday 3 will be something else.
Speaking with Gamereactor, Payday producer Almir Listo talked about the upcoming Payday 3 saying that it will be something else. He added that the development team is super excited about the upcoming game and will share more when they are ready. The reason he won’t reveal anything at his point because it might change in the future.
can say it’s in pre-production. I can tell you that it’s going to be something else. Having had the privilege to be a part in making Payday: The Heist happen and being a producer on Payday 2 and having the opportunity and the privilege to complete the trilogy is a dream come true. And me together with the rest of the Payday 3 team are super excited to share more about when we’re ready. But that’s all I can say about it now because we don’t want to talk about something that might get changed. And we might change our minds a lot during development.
Also, Payday 2 will be getting a free Payday VR mode later this year. The Payday VR mode for Payday 2 will allow players to step into the shoes of the bank robbers in a more immersive way than before. Furthermore, the VR mode will not be a closed section but the entire game will be supported. Meaning players can repeat the missions they currently play but in VR mode.
Payday 3 is a first-person co-op shooter in development and will launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and no release date has been set for the game.
