Prey on PC Won’t Suffer Like Dishonored 2, Dev Vows to Do Better
The launch of Prey is just around the corner and gamers are excited to see what Arkane has to offer with the reboot. However, many PC gamers are worried that the PC version of the game will not be optimized given that Dishonored 2 had a tough time running on many PCs. But, according to the studio, that is not going to happen with upcoming Prey reboot.
Speaking with Gamespot, Arkane president, Raphael Colantonio, said that development has “doubled its thoroughness” in terms of optimizing Prey for PC. He added that the game has been developed for PC first then for consoles and said that this is how the development works. He also explained why such issues are found on the PC version of games.
This time we are, given what happened with Dishonored 2, we doubled our thoroughness in making sure that the game is going to run smoothly. At this point the game is fully ready, but that’s what we’ve been doing for the past months–a lot of tests on different configurations and making sure it works. So we’re pretty confident. You never know. But we’re pretty confident.
Recently, Creative Director Raphael Colantonio talked about the game’s longevity and confirmed that Prey will have post-launch DLC. He added that Arkane Studios has no plans to announce yet but said that the development team is “absolutely” working on post-launch DLC along with post-launch updates.
Prey is an upcoming first-person action-adventure game in development at Arkane Studios and is scheduled to launch on May 5, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
