New Code Vein information has emerged, giving us a bit of insight on how Bandai Namco’s new action RPG will be playing. Code Vein is supposed to be a combination of Dark Souls and Bandai Namco’s God Eater franchise, but we don’t really know much about it other than that.
All of the information came from an interview in the Japanese magazine Dengeki Playstation. To start off with, the game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that was destroyed by an unknown event. Civilization has begun to rebuild, and is now, for the post part, made up of a number of adjoining areas.
Each of these areas is different from the next, and many of them have their own specific mechanics. It’ll be open world as well, so you’ll be able to freely move from one area to another. You can even explore these lands with a buddy, but this isn’t required; you can even go exploring on your own.
Other Code Vein information has said that the player themselves takes on the role of a Revenant, which you can customize to look however you want. You also won’t be limited by skill trees or the like when your character levels up, and will be able to tailor your playstyle accordingly.
However, even though it’s partially inspired by Dark Souls, the Code Vein information has also said that difficulty won’t be at the forefront like Dark Souls. However, there will still be a number of challenges. Whatever those are, however, hasn’t been established.
Currently, the Code Vein information doesn’t give out a release date or what consoles it’s for, so in the meantime, we’ll have to deal with the regular release window of sometime in 2018. Knowing Bandai Namco, though, it may simply be another Playstation 4 exclusive title. We’ll just have to see.
