It took almost 8 years for The Last Guardian to complete and it was worth it as the game was just amazing. Now, The Last Guardian director, Fumito Ueda, has teased his next project.
During the D.I.C.E awards ceremony held in Las Vegas, The Last Guardian director received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Character. During his speech, he said that he is thinking about his next project.
He explained the during the development of The Last Guardian he was not thinking about receiving an award for his work but now that he has he feels very happy about it and this gives him the inspiration to work on his next game that he has been thinking of.
No further details were revealed about his upcoming game and given that Fumito Ueda parted his ways with Sony Interactive Entertainment and heading his own studio, genDesign, and it is currently unknown that which platforms the upcoming game will be released for.
During the development of The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda many times expressed his passion for the game. However, he has said that he won’t be playing his own game for a year after its launch. He explained the reason behind this decision is that, he will only see the flaws in his game.
With all my titles – when the game is released, I’m extremely nervous. In the week after the release I don’t want to look at the game. All I’ll see are the flaws. I wouldn’t want to see it with that perspective because I don’t want to think about regrets. Even seeing tiny bugs I’ll think, why didn’t we squash that one?But sometime later, maybe after a year, I’ll be able to calm down and take a look.
The Last Guardian is an action-adventure game published by Sony Interactive Entertainment exclusively for PlayStation 4.
