You can text all of your friends with-in the game so none of you will get lost. You or your friends can invite each-other to the challenges and races you are competing in. No Voice chat integration in the game though – for that you will be relying on 3rd party software for now.
Challenges
Racing
Go through all the check-points and the first one to cross the finishing line is the winner. The races take place all over the islands. You can also compete in off-road races.
Speed Trap
There are numerous Radar Traps on the roads. These radar traps will read the speed at which you are driving the car, and if you get to be the one with the highest speed, you win the speed trap challenge. The fun part comes in your ability to take whatever route you want.
Speed
Compete against other players to find the best route and earn the most points. The more you go above the minimum speed, the more point you earn.
Co-Op Modes
Test Drive Unlimited 2 also comes with several unique co op multiplayer modes. These are:
Keep Your Distance
You will have to stay within the distance of a couple of yards with car next to you, or if you’re the leader then the car behind you. Yes, it sounds dashing! The faster your team will go, the more points you earn.
Follow the Leader
In every race, the leader can see the next checkpoint. Once he has crossed that checkpoint the team members will be given a certain amount of time to cross that checkpoint. Difficulty of this mode depends on the leader of the pack.
Online Modes
Instant Challenge
It’s like any other instant challenge mode. You set the challenge and then rely on your luck to be put against the best player in the World. You can also invite your friends to these challenges.
Chase
You can group-up with some friends, find a police car and smash it as much as you can. It will increase your violation level. Then you and your friends can split up for more fun. Cops win if they stop you and you will win if you have ward off the cops long enough. Chase plays out in traffic and cops have extra perks to aid the task like EMP.
Leveling System
TDU2 has a leveling system Yeah! Like I said it takes the approach of ‘MMO ’. Test Drive Unlimited 2’s character development system rewards you for everything you do in four different categories – Competition, Collection, Social, and Discovery. It takes the innovative approach of rewarding a player for his/her gamestyle and encouraging them to explore more game features.
Again, like the previous game you will be spending your winnings on new clothes, accessories, or real estate. All that will boost your collection score substantially. Participate in the multiplayer challenges, add friends, join a club or create your own – all that will boost your social score. All that feeds your global level that unlocks game features ranging from tune ups to unlocking Oahu at level 10.
Clubs
Clubs in the game are more like the racing clubs. You also have to level up your clubs in order to attract more members. Clubs are divided into Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3. Tier 1 club can take 8 members, Tier 2 club can take 16 members and Tier 3 club can take 32 members on the maximum.
The reason you would want to level up your club is the Tier 2/Tier 3 access to exclusive top level cars. The examples are McLaren MP4-12C, Gumpert Apollo, and Aston Martin One-77.
How you can level up your club? Compete with other clubs. You will earn points by challenging the other clubs, and take your club to the next level by defeating other clubs.
