Shadow Of Mordor was a new IP that launched back in 2014 and was a critical and commercial success. As Shadow Of Mordor was a new IP not all gamers were confident about the game and devs are making sure that for those who did not play the first one, Shadow Of War will be an entry point for them.
Speaking with IGN, Monolith Production’s Michael de Plater said that it is important for the team that Shadow Of War is the entry point for the gamers.
It’s really important for us that this is a point of entry. This is sort of the bigger blockbuster version of the game, so if you haven’t played Shadow and you start playing this one, it should be pretty easy to get into. Even if you don’t have prior knowledge of the movies.
When asked about the difficulty level for Shadow Of War given that the first one was “too easy”, Plater explained that Shadow Of War will have a high-level of difficulty for those players who like challenges.
t is a hard problem, but one of the ways we’re dealing with that is by adding difficulty. So if we have people who do just want to enjoy the story and do it more like they did Shadow of Mordor, where they can become more OP near the end and not think about that, we have Easy mode. On Normal, we have the dynamic difficulty, so it is always going to stay challenging. On Hard mode, it should genuinely be really meaningfully hard.
Recently, Michael de Plater revealed that Shadow Of War will be the full realization of their vision for the game as there were a lot of things that did not work in Shadow Of Mordor.
Shadow Of War is an open-world action adventure game in development at Monolith Productions and is scheduled to launch on August 22, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
