Gravity Rush 3 Will Likely Wait Until Playstation 5 To Be Released

Gravity Rush 3 may have to wait until the Playstation 5 comes out, according to project lead Keiichiro Toyama who wants to implement new ideas.

SIE Japan Studio and Project Siren will be releasing the sequel to their 2012/16 action adventure game Gravity Rush, Gravity Rush 2, in the next few days around the world. However, Keiichiro Toyama, the project director for the series, has said Gravity Rush 3 will likely wait until the Playstation 5 releases.

The Gravity Rush games tell the story of Kat, a girl that has the power to alter gravity as she sees fit. By changing the center of gravity around her, Kat can fly through the air, reach distant objects, walk on walls, and more.

The games tell Kat’s story as she works with other characters to help stop various threats caused by the gravity storms in the game’s world.

Previously, Gravity Rush was released on the Playstation Vita in 2012, before getting a Playstation 4 port last year.

Now this year its sequel will be coming to the Playstation 4. However, if Gravity Rush 3 does come out, Toyama has said that he wants to express new ideas on a new console, which some have taken to mean the next game would be on the hypothetical (for now) Playstation 5.

Both previous Gravity Rush games have gotten fairly positive reviews upon their releases, so a Gravity Rush 3 may be coming if the sales and reviews for Gravity Rush 2 are good enough.

However, with such big gaps between consoles (the Playstation 3 came out in 2006 while the Playstation 4 came out in 2013), we may not see a third Gravity Rush game until several years from now with the next console generation, even if the game does get confirmation for a sequel.

While games being held back for new consoles can end up going favorably (Team ICO’s The Last Guardian was able to look even better than Shadow of the Colossus on being delayed until the Playstation 4 released), the fanbase for Gravity Rush may fade away in the meantime, so we can only wait and see if we get a third game at all.
