Resident Evil 7 is still a mystery as Capcom hasn’t shared much about it. We do know that it is taking the series back to its roots, however, Matt Mercer reveals that we shouldn’t expect to see classic cameos in the game.
This indicates that not many classic characters may appear in Resident Evil 7.
Matt is the current voice of Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil and speaking with GameSpot, he explained that the series is scaling back on classic cameos.
As far as 7 goes, I think they’re scaling back a little bit on throwing in all the classic cameos. I can say that I don’t have any involvement in 7 directly.
But I think it’s also good of them, especially coming off of [Resident Evil 6] and its lukewarm reception, to go ahead and reestablish their roots and maybe start an original story. And if they decide that that does well, maybe they can then marry it in with the previous stories
He thinks that concentrating on the Resident Evil’s new direction is “paramount to maintaining the franchise.” While Matt isn’t appearing in Resident Evil 7, he did say that he will be more than happy to come back to the series in any future games where Leon fits.
Leon is a character I have a strong appreciation for. I loved him when I played the series and being able to step into those shoes has been a huge honor. So any chance to jump into his shoes again, I would definitely leap at
Resident Evil 7 is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR among other platforms in early 2017. Would you like to see Leon back in Resident Evil?
