Batman: Return to Arkham Comparison Screenshots Look Amazing
If you’re one of the many people that played the original Arkham games when they were out on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC, you might remember how Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City were lit and looked.
However, recently Batman: Return to Arkham comparison screenshots have been released, showing us the differences that will be coming when the new collection releases July 26.
Players of the original Arkham Asylum game might remember that if you looked at something from a distance, almost every building was covered with a foggy, blurry filter that made the game look really bad form a distance.
Thankfully in several screenshots, we get a view of various views from the game that actually make Arkham Asylum look like the Gothic (heh) mansion that it originally was before it was turned into an asylum (seriously, New Jersey. Death penalty. Would solve a lot of issues.)
While there aren’t very many screenshots of Arkham City and its environment, what we do see (mainly the “trial” scene between Catwoman and Two-Face and Bruce Wayne getting his Batman suit) is that the lighting and character models look much better, so it won’t seem like the lighting is only hitting the environment, and not the characters.
The Batman: Return to Arkham comparison screenshots also shows that the game’s textures look a lot better. Batman’s suit no longer looks like he’s wearing plastic, and Joker’s skin looks much less painted on (heh). Two-Face’s ruined face now also looks appropriately disgusting, though not to the levels shown in the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight movie.
While we probably won’t see more of the game until it releases on July 26, thankfully Warner Bros is helping to port one of the best pairs of games from the last generation over to the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC so people can see it look even better than before.
