Resident Evil 7 is in development and the game will be announced at E3 next month, according to Japanese analyst Serkan Toto.
It is no secret that Capcom is probably working on next Resident Evil, however, Resident Evil 6 did not meet the expectations but it is still one of the biggest cash cows for the company.
Serkan Toto claims on his Twitter account that Resident Evil 7 is in development and also that the game will apparently return to the franchise`s horror roots.
He also stated that Capcom has hired designer Jordan Amaro, who previously worked on Metal Gear Solid 5 and P.T at Kojima, to work on the game. Here are some of his tweets about the game:
About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it’s in development. The entire game will go back to RE’s horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.
They will show it at E3. The RE7 team hired Jordan Amaro, a designer who previously worked on MGS V and P. T. at Kojima Productions.
This comes as no surprise that Resident Evil 7 is in development as in October last year, producer Masachika Kawata told fans to stay tuned for news on the game. Masachika Kawata said:
We’re currently not at a state to talk about it… but please stay tuned.
In 2013 a reference to Resident Evil 7 was spotted on a contract employee`s resume. Costume designer Karen Brakenridge ‘s resume at LinkedIn shows a three month entry in her previous work experience’s column that reads “Costume Designer for the video game Resident Evil 7” for House of Moves. The duration of her work reads November 2012 to January 2013.
However, it is interesting to note that Capcom has not announced any plans to hold its own E3 briefing. Historically, the company does not conduct its own show, but operates a booth on the floor.
The next major Resident Evil game is a spinoff shooter Umbrella Corps, which will release for PlayStation 4 and PC in June.
