Update: Sony has confirmed that Crash Bandicoot IP is still owned by Activision.
Original Story: Crash Bandicoot was once owned by Sony Computer Entertainment but Activision showed interest and bought the IP, however, they didn’t really do anything with it. But it seems Sony might have bought the IP back from Activision.
We previously reported that Uncharted 4 features one of the best PlayStation eager eggs, Crash Bandicoot. At the beginning of the game, we can see Nathan Drake and Elena playing Crash Bandicoot on a PlayStation One.
The game uses contents from different sources and all third party sources were credited in the end credits except one, Activision. Sony did not credit Activision for Crash Bandicoot after using it in Uncharted 4.
Here are a couple of screenshots from ending credits. Keep in mind that these are only two sections where Sony credited third party collaborators; and you will see that there is no mention of Activision.
Fans want Crash to return and now seems like the best time for it to be back. ND is done with Uncharted 4 and we know there are two team working at the studio, one of them will move to The Last of Us 2 while the other could/should be working on a new Crash Bandicoot game for PlayStation 4.
Internet would surely break if Crash returns to PlayStation.
Uncharted 4 releases on May 10, be ready to see Crash once again. Also, do you think Sony will bring Crash to E3? Fingers crossed!
