Dark Souls 3 is Smaller Than Dark Souls 2 but More Complex: Miyazaki

Dark Souls 3 is smaller than Dark Souls 2, according to From Software. However, compared to previous games it is more complex and has more depth.

According to creator Hideki Miyazaki, Dark Souls 3 could possibly be smaller than Dark Souls 2. However, thanks to the power of current-gen consoles, it has more depth and complexity.

He went on to say that there is always a temptation to develop a much bigger sequel but they aren’t going to do that, even though it can attract more audience. He explained that the size of Dark Souls 3 is “about the same as Dark Souls 2, may be even a littler smaller.”

They took advantage of current-gen consoles so even though there may be fewer areas in Dark Souls 3, the game is more complex and has more depth than Dark Souls 2 ever did.

He didn’t went into much detail as he believes that players shouldn’t be overwhelmed with information ahead of release. They should find stuff out by playing the game and forming an opinion.

Even if Dark Souls 3 is smaller than Dark Souls 2, it actually doesn’t matter until the game has more to offer, which it does.

He did reveal some other minor detail about Dark Souls 3 though. According to Miyazaki, there are 200 weapons in Dark Souls 3. From Software made sure that each of them feels unique to the player.

In Dark Souls 3, players will form a closer relationship with the weapons they use, similar to Bloodborne. Stats are important but they won’t be everything.

Players will notice that Dark Souls 3 is much more similar to Bloodborne. How similar these two are will be revealed once we our hands on the game.

Dark Souls 3 will release later this month in Japan and on April 12 across the globe. You will be able to pick it up for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
