Epic Games Teases New AAA Title in Development on Unreal Engine 4, Resident Evil 7?

Epic Games has revealed that a new AAA game is currently in development and it's using Unreal Engine 4. Kawasaki says it will be announced soon.

Epic Games Japan has revealed a very interesting piece of information. As you know, Unreal Engine 4 is one of the most popular engines we have in the industry today, many games are using it. For instance, we have Tekken 7, Kingdom Hearts III, Shenmue III and more.

However, Epic Games claim that a new AAA game is being developed using the Unreal Engine 4. They didn’t say which game and who is developing it, but presumably it is Resident Evil 7.

Speaking about the popularity of Unreal Engine 4, Kawasaki Takayuki said:

Certainly, there are many announcement especially this year and last year. There are Tekken, Kingdom Hearts, Street Fighter, and recently Dragon Quest. The announcement keeps coming, and you can see there are many in the past year. But in reality, we actually talked about these games 2 to 3 years ago. The timing of the announcement just didn’t happened until last summer.

When asked about any “hidden gems” were being developed on Unreal Engine 4, he said:

Again, it’s scary when these things get checked all over the internet; however (laughs),
possibly, I believe there is one AAA title to be announced using Unreal Engine 4 by the end of the year.

Capcom recently told fans to keep an eye out for news regarding Resident Evil 7. So it is very much possible that the AAA game being referred to is RE7. However, this is just an assumption.

Do you think Capcom should ditch Panta Rhei in favor in Unreal Engine 4?
