I am not quite sure how lucrative this is going to sound to the gaming community in general, but The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux is now out on Steam as a free update for those who already own the game.
Redux is actually a remastered version of the original title that came out about one year ago and it ups the game in a number of ways. For instance, this time the game has been built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 4 as opposed to Unreal Engine 3 which the original game used.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux developers, The Astronauts say that “story-wise both games are identical,” and that “there are no extra quests or secrets in the Redux version.” So if you were hoping to get some of that, you should not be spending on this game.
What’s more, they say that “Redux is sort of an unofficial tag,” which is not even featured on game’s official artwork anywhere.
However, some of the new things they have added to Redux include a new save system, invisible or barely visible streaming of new areas, a total lack of backtracking and toning down of a certain area in the game which the users found too exhausting and/ or scary.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux can be bought on Steam for $11.99 which is the price of the original game – that is if you don’t already own it.
