Witcher and Witcher 2 Sales Reach 8 Million Mark
According to a recent fiscal report released by CD Projekt Red, developers of the Witcher franchise, the sales of the company’s highly acclaimed RPG has reached a total number of 8 million.
The sales figure is a combined one for both The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings.
While CDPR hasn’t made clear whether the sales figure is just for retail releases or digital, but it will most probably for both across all platforms.
As of March 2014, the number of games sold in the Witcher franchise was 7 million, so that’s an increase of a million more copies sold in almost six months.
Perhaps one major reason for this increased number in sales is due to Steam Sales where both games can be acquired for a total of approximately $10.
The company still hasn’t shared details about the number of copies of the upcoming Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt pre ordered across all platforms but judging by the anticipation of the game, the content included with the Standard Edition of the game and the rate at which the Collector’s Edition stock dwindled on many retailers, it will be a pretty big number.
CDPR has also signed an agreement with 17 partners to ensure that Witcher 3 is available in 109 countries. The company also has around 12 million Euros in cash reserves so it is financially pretty strong.
