Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign Limited Edition Fighter Pad Brings Back Memories of Sega Controllers

Arc System Works is making a Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign fighting controller which features six buttons and no analogue sticks; much like old Sega controllers.

Arc System Works is designing a limited edition controller for Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign, exclusively for the Playstation 4.

The controller (which can be seen below) is far distinguishable from a Dualshock 4 and brings back the memories of Sega Genesis controller. This specially designed controller doesn’t have room for the analogue sticks and only features the regular d-pad. Furthermore, aside from regular square, triangle, cross, and circle buttons, R1 and R2 are shifted adjacent to the four action buttons.

Although the controller will work with both PS3 and PS4, the limited edition is exclusive to PS4. Coming to the pricing details, the limited edition will set you back 10,778 yen and will include a Guilty Gear Vocal Collection CD and another bonus which will be revealed at a later date.

Personally, both Xbox One and Dualshock 4 controllers seem to work fine for fighting games, but it all comes down to personal preference, otherwise this year’s EVO champion of Street Fighter wouldn’t have used the original Dualshock while most of his competitors were on expensive arcade sticks.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign is scheduled to release on Dec. 4, 2014 in Japan across Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. As for the North America, no concrete release date has been provided, but the developer is targeting fall 2014 release window.
