Good news for football fans, as Konami has announced PES Manager as a free mobile addition to their franchise. It will be available for both iOS and Android devices at a later date.
It works mostly like the traditional manager simulation genre of sports games. Players get a hold of a certain squad and then try to mold it into a team of champions out of a list of 1,500 licensed names.
You’ll start with a roster of 14 football players, which you can train to improve their skills. During 3D rendered matches, you’ll be able to perform attacks and special moves on the fly.
Matches are played against either artificial opponents or teams from other PES Manager players. At the end of a game, the winner will be awarded with Energy Balls.
With Energy Balls, the team can enhance their skills. Alternatively, these power-ups can be bought through the game’s monetization system.
To obtain new squad mates, you’ll need to entertain the viewing crowd. We’re not sure what that means exactly, but it sounds rather original, at least.
PES Manager will only launch in a select amount of regions. We’ll detail that below. We hope yours is in here:

Since it’s free, PES Manager sounds like a neat way to get ready for the World Cup. As long as the monetization aspect isn’t forced on too tightly, there shouldn’t be a reason not to try it out.
