Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 Crashes, Errors, Tweaks, FPS, Performance Fixes

List of Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 crashes, errors, freezes and workarounds to fix the graphics and performance of the game.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 might not have received very good reviews, but the long-time fans of the franchise aren’t going to hold back on the latest iteration.

PC gamers mostly tend to get a short end of the stick as most games are bad ports of console versions.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 seems to be another unpolished port, and it has also got some problems in the form of errors, crashes and bugs.

If you are looking to find a solution of a problem related to Lords of Shadow 2, feel free to browse through the following troubleshooting guide:

#1 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Unsupported file systems
This error will pop up if you are using the FAT file system which used to be common in Windows XP.

FAT file system does not allow you to move/copy a single file more than 4GB. So if you want to play the game on your current hard drive, you will have to use the NTFS file system.

#2 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Black Screen (Missing Textures)
If you are facing this issue, be sure that you have installed HD textures pack from the options.

If that doesn’t help, you should try updating your GFX drivers. It goes without saying that your system should meet the minimum requirements for the game.

Validating the game’s cache through Steam can also fix the issue for you.

#3 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Screen Flickering Fix
If your screen is flickering and you are sure that you have updated GPU drivers and your system is strong enough to handle the game properly, then I will recommend that you try running the game in the windowed mode. This is not a permanent fix of course but, it somehow has fixed the problem for some users.

#4 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Could not find any compatible Direct3D device
First thing you need to do to solve this issue is install the directx package found in the game’s directory. If that doesn’t help, update your GPU drivers to the latest one to fix the issue.

#5 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Resolution Fix
Many users have reported that they are experiencing crashes after they change resolution in Lords of Shadow 2. There is no proper fix for the problem yet but you can give the following workarounds a shot.

  • First, try a clean restart of your computer after you have installed the game.
  • If that doesn’t help, try disabling/enabling your SLI or Crossfire to see if the problem goes away.

#6 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 Crash to Desktop Fix
If you are experiencing random crashes in the game, you should try disabling the Steam Overlay system.

In the demo, screen capture tools like FRAPS also became the reason for the game’s crash, but I am not sure that the conflict is still there in full game or not. In any case, disabling them too may also solve your problem.

#7 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 FPS drop During Cutscenes
If you are experiencing FPS drop during the cutscenes, I will recommend that you lower down depth-of-field option in the game’s menu.

If you come across any other issues, comment and we will help you out!
