Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Errors, Crashes, Tweaks, Save Bug and Graphics Fixes

If you are facing any Metal Gear Rising Revengeance errors, crashes, tweaks or related issues, we have the possible fixes for you.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance didn’t do bad on consoles, and Raiden was impressive enough to secure average scores. After the game’s release on consoles, there were speculations in the air about the PC version.

The speculations were ultimately confirmed by Konami revealing that the game was looking good on PC. Now that PC version of MGR: Revengeance has been finally rolled out on Steam, it is riddled with bugs.

Although the game is visually and mechanically great, it has been plagued by a few issues associated with display which have left many fans in agony.

Konami however, is hard at work to get them fixed but in the meanwhile, if you are looking for workarounds and fixes for these issue, feel free to browse through the following list:

#1 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Always Online Connection / Playing Offline
Just after the game went live on Steam, hundreds of users started complaining about the game not being starting. Ultimately, it was found that being offline is the cause of majority of the start-up crashes. The good news is that Konami is aware of the issue and they are working to resolve it.

So keep an eye on updates that are imminent.

#2 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Crashes in Full Screen
If you are using a TV instead of a monitor screen, try running the game in the same resolution as of your TV. If that doesn’t cut it, you should reduce your dpi settings (through windows) at least to 100.

One of Konami officials has also recommended that you run the game using a monitor as multiple users are having various display issues on TV.

I know it’s a lame excuse at the developer’s end I hope they fix but in the meanwhile; the monitor can be your only hope. Or maybe you can play it in the windowed mod?

#3 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – Game Not Being Save, Autosave Bug
If you are having issues in saving the game and are loosing all the saved progress after restart, you should set the game’s “.exe” file to runs “as admin”.

Hopefully, it will fix the issue. If you are using Windows 8, you can try creating a new user to make the save files work correctly. I am not sure about it but a user claimed to have fixed it that way.

#4 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Full Screen Workaround
Apart from the notorious online issue, many users are left in agony as the game is apparently not supporting high refresh rates around 60Hz or more. According to the feedback, it will only work in full screen if you have refresh rate around 24Hz.

As a temporary workaround, you will have to stick to the windowed mode.

If the borders are annoying, you can use this tool for borderless windows.

And if you are experiencing a black screen (accidentally you changed resolution to an unsupported one) both in full and windowed mode, you can delete your save files in %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\MGR\SaveData\. It will reset all the custom changes.

#5 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – Third Party Controller Workaround
If you are clueless to make your controller work, you can make use of this tool to get it fixed.

Place the downloaded files into your MGR directory and run the “.exe” file. Follow the steps and when a white controls interface appear, leave it as such and launch the game.

If you have any other workaround, share with us in the comments.

#6 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – How to Fix 24 FPS Issue
It’s not really a permanent fix, but it’s better than having 24 or lower frame rates at a high end PC. Since the game seems to have problems with resolution and refresh rates, you should make sure that you are running the game at same resolution as that of your desktop.

It will improve the frame rates in full screen and will also make the stutter go away. You can also make use of this tool to remove the annoying FPS cap.

#7 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – Fixes Related to “.dll” Files
If your game is being crashed due to any “.dll” file, you should do two things:

  • First, try re-installing your directx.
  • If that doesn’t help, you should repair your redist installation. You can easily download the package from Microsoft’s website.

#8 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – How to get Back the Missing Features
Well, it’s Konami code for the win. You can enter the code at the startup screen to make some features available. The code is as follows:

Up-up down-down left-right left-right Action- Jump

#9 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance – No Sound During Cutscenes Fix
First thing you should do is check your sound settings. Even if you can hear sounds, your voice volume might have been set to zero by default. Yes, it can happen.

Secondly, you should make sure that your graphics and sound drivers are up to date.

#10 Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Black Bars Fix
Again, the issue is related to annoying resolution and refresh rate problem.

If want it to make it go away, you will have to adjust both your desktop and game’s resolutions and refresh rates. It can be different for everyone depending on the type of screen you have.
