F1 2010 is a another master piece by Codemasters, who have really made their name in racing genre with the games like Grid, and Dirt 2. F1 2010 has infamous LAN support for PC, and so can be played online with the help of any virtual network adapter like Hamachi or Tunngle. How you setup the game to work with Hamachi/Tunngle ? read below.

F1 2010 Hamachi and Tunngle Guide

You need “Teknogods Beta 17″ for F1 2010 to work with virtual private network adapters like Hamachi and Tunngle.

You can download Teknogods Beta 17 from here.

Step 1
First off, delete teknogods.dll entry from App_Init_dlls, this is only needed if you used the older versions. Otherwise skip this step.

Step 2
Run F1 2010.

Step 3
The one who wants to host should launch F1 2010 and host the game. Host does not need to do anything else, not even use the “DLL loader”.

Step 4
Those who want to connect to a hosted game need to minimize their game by pressing “Alt+Tab” key and start the TeknoGods loader(DLLLoad) file in archive you downloaded earlier.

You can also use TeknoHelper to setup everything automatically, it is included in the archive.

How to Setup Everything With TeknoHelper
Execute the teknohelper.exe and you will see that the program has 4 checks in place. Get VPN/Get All filter, click the button and it will check for all the VPN software, you have installed.

Once it has found any VPN, it will be displayed in the window above. Select Tunngle/Hamachi,VPN of your choice and click “Set Adapter Key” that is if you are haven’t had previous version of TeknoGods Beta installed.

If you had previous version of teknogods beta installed on your computer, click “Clear Registry Key” first for your selected VPN software, once it has deleted teknogods.dll entry from App_Init_dlls, click “Set Adapter Key”.

Once the registry key is set, you will see a green tick underneath second check. Now click “re(Start) Loader” to execute DLLLoad.exe, it will ask you to launch the game in 30 seconds, so go ahead and do so. Once all the four checks have green tick underneath, you have set up everything correctly.

Check Your Setup
Start the game. Press the ‘Home’ key. Then click settings, then Network Information. Next to Network Adapter it should say ‘Hamachi/Tunngle (registry override)’. Next to ‘Local IP Address’ it should show your Hamachi/Tunngle IP.

If everything is setup correctly, you are ready to play.

Step 5
Navigate to Multiplayer>LAN>and Search for a game. When you have found the game, press F12 (for ping override) and you will hear “working”, join the game. Once you are in lobby, press F12 second time and you’ll hear “transfer complete”, you are in game, rock on.

Important Notes

  • Make sure that Hamachi is at the top of priority list in your network connections.
  • Obviously, both the host and the other players should be in the same network or room using Hamachi or Tunngle respectively.
  • Your firewall should not block either your VPN (Hamachi ot Tunngle) or the game.

Update 28/9/10: Download Files Updated!! Download the new files to fix the crash issues.

If you face any issue playing F1 2010 on Hamachi/Tunngle, we are just a comment away.

  2. popo says:

it bugs after 10 to 50 sec of playing with a friend :(

  3. aaaaaaadddddddssssssss says:

    F12 don’t work :\ , do you know why?

  4. People with random crashes, make sure the host has 50 or lesser ping, it will crash if the ping of the host is high.

    1. And also when to press F12 is little tricky.

Clients press F12 one time before joining a game and a second time after the host started the game while the loading process.

    2. Hamachi is often buggy and you cant see find other games. Also Hamachi just resetted their servers, make sure they are online now. Before you jump in to try Hamachi.

For people using Hamachi, set your network adapter to priority, and set its metric. If you don’t know what I am talking about then follow the tutorial below.

    For XP Users
Go to All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Network Connections. Go to the menu > Advanced > Advanced Settings. Now under Adapters and Bindings tab, move Hamachi to the top of the list.

    Restart your PC.

    For Vista/Win7 Users
Go to Start menu > Network, click on the Network and Sharing Center button at the top. Click on “Manage Network Connections” on the left hand side and then go to Advanced > Advanced Settings. Under the Adapters and Bindings tab, move Hamachito the top of the list.

    Restart your PC.

    Step 4

    XP Users
Go to Local Area Networks, right click on Hamachi, and open its Properties. In properties select TCP/IPv4, and click on Properties tab below. In the properties windows, click on Advanced tab at the bottom of the window, Now in IP Settings tab, go to the bottom and add 10 in “Interface Metric”.

    Vista/Win7 Users
Go to Network and Sharing Center, on the right side, click on Adapter Settings, here you will find the Hamachi Network. Right click on it to proceed to its properties, in its properties select TCP/IPv4 and go to its properties, there click on Advanced tab at the bottom and move on its advanced settings. In IP Settings tab of advanced settings of TCP/IPv4, go to the bottom of the window, and add “10″ in “Interface Metric”.

I hope this helps. Peace out!

  8. Nitin says:

i am able to get the 1st 3 checks in the helper. but not the gamestart check(it doesnt start the dllload either). thing is the new hamachi ip is getting displayed in the profile page in the game. Am unable to join the session. any idea whats wrong ? i did all the steps mentioned regarding hamachi.

  9. Usman says:

I followed all the instructions you gave. The first three boxes are checked by a green ‘tick’ but the ‘gamestart’ check doesnt turn green even though i start the game. The restart loader thing works fine as well. All i have to do is start the game but doing so doesnt help. Thats why i cannot find any sessions in the LAN mode. Help plz. Hurry.
