Nintendo launched Nintendo Switch, a hybrid of handheld and home console, a couple of months ago and it has been quite successful. Now, it seems that looking at Nintendo’s hybrid console’s success Sony might also be thinking of trying its luck again in the handheld market, as a rumour has made its way to the internet that suggests that the company might showcase a new handheld console at E3 2017.
The report comes from a Chinese games media site who claims that they have received an invitation for the presentation of the new gaming hardware reveal at Sony China office. According to the report, this will be the very first presentation of Sony’s new handheld.
According to the report, the handheld will be PSP 3 and will be revealed at this year’s E3 presentation and will be a successor to PS Vita. It would be interesting to see this new handheld console to compete with Nintendo Switch, however, take this rumour as a grain of salt given that no official statement has been released.
While Sony might be looking to compete with Switch but will it matter a couple of years down the line as according to the industry analyst, Micheal Patcher, console software will soon move off the console by 2019.
