Windows 10 Will Have Compact Overlay Windows, Build 15031

Compact overlay windows allow the user to pin video related content on top of other programs. Here is what you need to know about this Windows 10 feature.

Ever since Microsoft decided to make Windows a service rather than a product we are getting some really interesting things when it comes to the Windows 10. We talked about the Windows 10 creators update and the features that will be introducing to users soon.

While insiders can check out these features others will still need to wait a while longer before then can see what the new Windows 10 update has to offer.

The new insider build 15031 introduces a better way of multitasking when it comes to video related applications. Compact overlay windows allow the user to pin video related content on top of other programs.

This can come in handy is you have a small screen to work with but are a heavy multitasker. My i7 laptop, for example, is perfectly capable of running multiple programs at the same time but with the 13-inch screen, I am limited. Compact overlay windows could come in handy in such a case.

This feature can come in handy as you can have a video or Skype call running on top as an overlay while you continue to do your work. You can watch a movie or talk to someone on Skype while you are working in Microsoft Word or some other software.

As impressive and easy to use as this feature may be it is not the first time that we are seeing something of this nature. We saw a similar feature for MacOS last year. Even though this is not something original or designed exclusively for Windows 10 I still think that this is a very useful feature and that it will make my life a bit easier when working on different programs at the same time.
