Not All Xbox Scarlet Games Will Run at 4K/60FPS: Indie Dev

Xbox Scarlet Games won't push to 4K/60FPS every time. It will be up to the developers where they choose to dedicate their resources.

Xbox Scarlet games won’t be running at 4K with 60FPS, according to Stefano Pinna, founder and CEO of indie development team Forge Studios. Speaking in a recent interview, Microsoft won’t be able to push Xbox Scarlet games to 4K/60FPS. It does not mean that the console will be underpowered, rather, it is up to the developer where he wants to dedicate his resources.

Similar is the case with Xbox One X as not every game supports 4K as some developers choose to go full HD with better frame rates. First, part Xbox Scarlet games are more likely to push 4K/60FPS.

I think each developer is still going to decide where he wants to put the new power available. You can steer that in higher resolution and fluidity or you can put an insane amount of visual fidelity on screen and render it at lower resolution or a bit less fluid… let’s say that a current-gen game, visually astonishing as a Naughty Dog game can be, would probably run 4K/60 FPS with new amazing tech features added… if you want more visual fidelity than that, we are going to lose either FPS or resolution.

Shooter games tend to lean more toward frame rates rather than resolution which makes sense given their competitive nature.  The first wave of Xbox Scarlet games is going to be crucial to its success. Not only the console would need to beat its competitor on the hardware sheet but also with more exclusive games.

According to reports, Xbox Scarlet will feature more memory and VR integration, something that Microsoft didn’t pursue this generation.

The generation of consoles is expected to roll out in 2020.
