Xbox One X Is Popular Than PS4 Pro In US But Generates Less Sales, Nielsen Survey Reveals

There are few companies that will come to your mind if you talk about the consoles in the gaming industry. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are the three giants which have the most customers around the world with their consoles that are PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch to be the latest.

What you don’t know is who’s the most known or recognized, luckily a research firm in the US called Nielsen has released a report which tells us that the people in the US are more interested in Xbox One X instead of PS4 Pro. This makes Xbox One X come over PlayStation 4 pro and Nintendo Switch but not the original PS4.

You must be surprised if you are not an Xbox owner but the surprising thing is that this awareness doesn’t help Xbox One X to sell very well in the US.

As you can see in the picture above, the survey tells us that the most known console in the general public is PlayStation 4 with 72% which is followed by 59% of Xbox One X, the original model at 54% and Nintendo Switch at 29%. Sadly PS4 Pro comes last with just 29%.

It’s quite good for Xbox One X to do that much in such a short span of time, unlike PS4 which is below Nintendo Switch.

This survey also revealed the percentage of people who know about the current gen or older. Luckily this gen is doing really good with 86% of people who knew about the current gen consoles which have increased by 4% from the last year.

The survey included 2000+ interviews and was divided 50% among men and women.

As you can see above, despite the awareness of Xbox One X, people are more interested to buy PlayStation 4 but yes not the PS4 Pro. This also could be due to the high price of Xbox One X which is higher than the PS4 Pro.

17% of the general public revealed that they intend to buy PS4 if they ever do, followed by Nintendo Switch at 16%, Xbox One X at 15% and PS4 Pro with 14%.

Other than for consoles, it was interesting to see that people are shifting away from PC. The survey revealed that gamers are more interested in playing games on consoles and mobile devices rather than the PC.

The report does mention that this decline caused to the PC industry is due to the blockbuster launch of Nintendo Switch and powerful consoles like PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
