Xbox One Party Chat Could Get as Large as 64 Players, Non-Xbox Live Usage is High

Microsoft wants Xbox One Party Chat to support up to 64 players because many PC gamers are also using it while playing games like Battlefield and WoW.

The Xbox One Party Chat app is one of the many solutions that Microsoft gives to its gamers in order to provide a complete gaming experience. This one has nothing to do with the game itself, but the support system is good.

The future might hold much greater communication solutions. Mike Ybarra, the Head of Programming for Microsoft’s Xbox Division says that they are continuously increasing the supported number of party members, and although they are at 16 players right now but he wishes to increase that by a great margin.

If his plans come true, very soon the Xbox One Party Chat app could support as many as 64 player parties!

It was 8 six months ago, then we went to 12, now we’re at 16. I’d love to get that to 64 because that’ll get Battlefield and games like that which do 64 vs. 64…have at it! Now, I don’t want to be in a party of 64, but that’s a different problem! [Laughs]

You must be wondering why exactly do they want such a large number of players to be supported, interestingly, the answer is in non-Xbox Live applications of the program.

Ybarra says that they have seen the app being used for a number of “non-Xbox Live games,” he gave the example of World of Warcraft on Windows where a number of people are using the app to communicate among their 20-person raids.

I like raising that – especially on the PC where a lot of our gamers use the Xbox app with non-Xbox Live games because you get free party chat.

Well, the Xbox One Party Chat offers support for up to 16 players now, increasing that four times for use with Windows and not because of Xbox One tells how much Microsoft wants to take their platforms together.
