Video Game Load Times Won’t Be The Same When PS5 And New Xbox Come Out

A new generation of video game consoles means a huge amount of new, better tech than the previous generation. That better tech will be extending to video game load times, especially when one takes the Playstation 5 and Xbox Scarlett into account. Microsoft and Sony are both responsible for that.

The reasoning behind why video game load times won’t be the same when the next generation of video game consoles comes out is due to, of course, the technology inside the actual consoles. Microsoft and Sony have apparently both decided to put faster SSDs in each console.

With this SSD in mind, Playstation has bragged that the Playstation 5 will be able to play Insomniac’s Spider-Man game 15 times faster than the Playstation 4 can, and that’s just the start of how loading times will be affected.

Microsoft says, for instance, that the Xbox Scarlett, with its own faster SSD card, can load games a full 40 times faster than the original Xbox One ever could. Both of these statements can match a Sony spokesperson that said Sony wants to make load times a thing of the past.

At the same time, however, you’ll need more than faster load times to sell consoles. You’ll also need exclusive games that people find appealing, graphics that are better than your competition, and a better price as well. In these, though, Playstation has the advantage.

The Playstation 4 overthrew Microsoft as the dominant video game company this generation because the Playstation 4 has more exclusive games, better graphics, and had a better announcement unlike Microsoft’s controversial Xbox One announcement.

To see how the features of both consoles outside video game load times stack up, we’ll have to wait for their various official announcements, which will likely being coming sometime in the next year. In the meantime, hopefully the Playstation 5 and Xbox Scarlett will both be great consoles with great games.
