A rumor recently brought up by industry insider Shinobi602 says that the Uncharted 4 multiplayer may not be included on the actual disk at the game’s launch. Shinobi602 made the announcement about the rumor on Twitter this morning.
I’m hearing Uncharted 4’s MP portion won’t be on the disc but as a separate download. That be a huge game right ther!
Instead, the Uncharted 4 multiplayer component will have to be downloaded separately, from the Playstation Store, when the game releases.
Naughty Dog has yet to confirm the rumor, so for now everyone should take it with a grain of salt until either Naughty Dog says something about Uncharted 4 multiplayer or when the game releases on May 10.
If the rumor is true, however, it’s likely that the reason is because the game’s single-player is extremely big (which Naughty Dog’s assertions of the environments of the game being ten times bigger than any Uncharted before would support), too big for the multiplayer to be on the same disc.
A single game disc can only hold so much data before there’s too much to stay on a single disc (both Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 have both required two discs to play through the story because of the game’s sheer size), so the single player mode of Uncharted 4 quite possibly could be too big to have both it and the Uncharted 4 multiplayer on a single disc.
Uncharted 4 will serve as the conclusion of the story of famous treasure hunter Nathan Drake, since the very first game in his series came out in 2007. It will chronicle the story of he and his brother Sam Drake as they aim to search for the treasure of a lost pirate colony on the island of Madagascar named “Libertalia”.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will come out on May 10 exclusively on the Playstation 4.
