In Total War: Three Kingdoms, Dong Zhuo is a horrific tyrant who happens to be the main antagonist of the story. He is the only warlord that you need to unlock in order to play him. There are two main methods of doing this:
Defeat Him in Battle
This method is very unlikely to work since he dies by turn 13 due to story-related consequences. You have to engage in battle with Dong Zhuo actually in it. Not only is he costly to recruit but he needs to be recruited by an enemy army. We recommend you choose a warlord close to him such as Zehng Jiang.
Becoming Emperor
Most players prefer to finish the campaign and unlock him. Since you can become Emperor in 12 campaigns, you can just pick an easier one and unlock him much quicker that way. Play through Cao Cao’s campaign, become Emperor, and then finally assume control of Dong Zhuo.
