StreetPass in Tomodachi Life is an important aspect which is primarily used to interchange Export Items between two islands and to send/receive traveler belonging to other island.
Tomodachi Life StreetPass and SpotPass
Export Items are unique to an island and the only way to acquire Export Items belonging to other island is by using StreetPass.
As for sending/receiving traveler, there must be a traveler waiting at the Port. Once this condition is met, each StreetPass tag will send one traveler to the island that you StreetPass with.
Setting Up Your Export Item and Activating StreetPass
In order to choose your Export Item and activate your StreetPass, you need to progress through the game a bit. Basically, you need to visit The Hats and solve at least 10 problems which will initiate a survey-type thing and your Export Item will be decided based on your responses.
After submitting your responses, you will randomly receive 3 items from all the candidates, having varying color-schemes. If you’re not satisfied with your acquired items, you can start all over again.
However, you can take this survey only twice unless you save your game before it.
Import Items
Import Ware revolves around StreetPass items and SpotPass items. Below, you’ll find a brief overview of these items:
Export Item from Another Island
After StreetPassing an island, you’ll have an option to buy the Export Item from that island which will be showed under your Import Ware.
Monthly Items
In addition to this, after every 15 days, you’ll acquire a new item under Import Ware via SpotPass. These items can also be acquired from other players, in case you missed them during the first year.
How to Create your Own Traveler
In order to have your own Traveler, you need to conceive a baby bring him/her up until you’re asked to make a decision to either let him/her live in the apartment or become a Traveler.
Note: Once you choose ‘Become a Traveler,’ you won’t be able to reverse your decision.
Before you send your Traveler to the Port, you’ll be able to change a few things, should you choose to do so! You’ll see options to change his/her appearance, nickname, favorite color, and setup a short sentence.
Once everything is done, send your Traveler to the Port and you’re done!
As for receiving a Traveler from another island, simply StreetPass an island and you’ll automatically get the Traveler, provided that island has a Traveler at the Port.
Visiting Travelers from the Other Island
After each StreetPass tag, one Traveler from the Port will be sent to visit the other island. Your traveler is sent at the same time, the StreetPass tag happens.
If you check the Port during day time, the new Traveler will not visit the Campground directly, but some random areas like Park, etc. After meeting with the Traveler, he/she will ask you whether he/she can camp at your island:
- Saying Sorry before evening – Traveler will not go back to the Port
- Saying Sorry after evening – Traveler will go back to the Port
