There’s A Floyd Mayweather Video Game In Development, Not EA’s Fight Night

American professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather is making his way into the gaming industry with his own boxing title. A Floyd Mayweather video game is already in development which, as he said, is not Fight Night.

During a talk with TMZ Sports, Mayweather has revealed that he is “working on” his video game which has, apparently, the same theme as Fight Night but it’s not quite it. According to the famous boxer, he’s not able to get involved in EA’s Fight Night franchise because it has to be his own making. He states:

“Before I do anything I gotta have some ownership. It’s like the difference between chartering a jet and owning a jet”

While this is good news for sports fans out there, there is no more information regarding the project. While the Floyd Mayweather video game is no Fight Night, it will most likely be a boxing title following the same pattern.

Floyd Mayweather is no rookie when it comes to his name in video games as he was a playable character in numerous EA boxing titles. Those include the Knockout Kings franchise as well as 2005’s Fight Night Round 2.

This isn’t the first time a boxing title is promoting a specific boxer as Mike Tyson has been also been the center of attention in Mike Tyson’s Punch Out on the NES back in 1987. Note that the Mike Tyson boss fight is considered one of the most difficult bosses fights up to date. Talk about Dark Souls.

As for Mayweather himself, he is currently an active boxer and has held multiple world titles in five weight categories. Apart from his world boxing carrier, he was the center of attention back in August due to the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight aka “The Money Fight”, where he won over the latter by a technical knockout. This fight rewarded Mayweather with reportedly $300 million. Guess that’s a budget that can make any man want to create his own video game.

What do you think about the upcoming Floyd Mayweather video game? Will this be a title similar to Fight Night?
