The Witcher Series Causes Thousands To Return To Wild Hunt

The Witcher series airing on Netflix has caused thousands of people to return to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, even though it's only been outl ess than a week.

Only six days ago, Netflix finally premiered its new Witcher series, a television version of the Witcher books originally written by Andrzej Sapkowski. The show has immediately proven to be a wild success, and the Witcher series has actually caused thousands of fans to go back to playing The Wild Hunt.

The Witcher series only covers the actual books so far, telling the story of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Ciri as they each go about their own plotlines spread across the show. It’s also unlikely it will cover the games, since the games aren’t actually written by Sapkowski.

Either way, the series has fulfilled its mission of getting more people interested in the Witcher, even if some critics are comparing it unfavorably to Game of Thrones. While it might be confusing to people who haven’t read the books, the series has gotten wide praise from fans, especially given Henry Cavill’s performance as Geralt.

According to various websites, the amount of gamers once again playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the biggest and best of the Witcher games, has skyrocketed since the series launched. The amount of people playing the game has risen to 48,000 people, a number not seen since the release of the game’s final DLC, Blood and Wine, back in 2016.

It’s oddly appropriate that this has been result, as well, considering that Cavill himself, who plays the titular Witcher Geralt of Rivia, has also expressed that he’s a huge fan of the franchise, having both played the games and read the books.

Though The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt released way back in 2015, it has remained surprisingly popular for its huge amount of content, along with its gwent card game, which eventually became popular enough to get its own spinoff title. The game even recently got a Switch port years after its original release.

If you’ve played the Witcher games and want to see where the story all began, or have read the books and want to see how Netflix does it, you can watch the Witcher series on Netflix right now. And if it gets you in the mood to do more monster hunting in Wild Hunt yourself, so much the better.
